Match report Binfield claimed a maximum point victory over visitors Chalfont St Giles to move to the top of the Morrant Chilterns League First Division on Saturday. Chalfont won the toss and decided to bat first and made good progress through openers Andy Forshaw (25) and Andy Hardy (31) but both departed in quick succession to Binfield's opening bowler Barney Sykes. The introduction of Tony Boad and James Wright strangled Chalfont's progress as further wickets fell at regular intervals before the innings closed in the 48th over with Chalfont 164 all out. The wickets were shared between James Wright (4 for 30 from 11 overs), Tony Boad (3 for 36 from 12 overs) and Barney Sykes (3 for 38 from 12overs).

Binfield's reply started brightly as Michael Carson raced to 27 in quick time before he was caught at slip. His opening partner Jim Browning (41) and Sean Ennis (18) batted sensibly to take the score towards 3 figures but when they were both out further wickets fell to leave Binfield on 105 for 5 with the game still on the balance. However Paul Edgington and Matt Humphrey calmed the home team's nerves to see Binfield to the victory target without further loss of wickets. Edgington and Humphrey both finished unbeaten on 31 to secure the points for Binfield.
