Centuries from Jack Green (105 not out) and Carter Daines (113) powered Binfield Cricket Club's 4th XI to a 161-run win away at Boyne Hill CC 4th XI on Saturday 11 July in Thames Valley Cricket League Division 8B, Nathan Warwick's 5 for 39 then skittling the hosts for 131 as the runaway league leaders made it emphatic.

One century is a fine day's work; two in the same innings is riches. Jack Green opened the batting at Boyne Hill and was still there at the end, unbeaten on 105, an innings of splendid patience and placement - and around him wicketkeeper Carter Daines produced fireworks, 113 glorious runs from the number six spot before he was caught with the innings in full cry. From 292 for 5 in their 40 overs, with Jack Spencer-Jones's 2 for 38 the best of the home bowling, Binfield's league leaders had the game halfway won already.

Nathan Warwick then took care of the other half. His eight overs brought 5 for 39 - a five-wicket haul that included a stumping for Daines, who thus added two catches and a stumping behind the timbers to his hundred in front of them. What a day he had. Richard Draper was magnificently mean with 2 for 12 from five overs, Chris White and Tim Vines struck once apiece, and only Theo Murphy's unbeaten 34 held things up as Boyne Hill were bowled out for 131 inside 27 overs. The worm graph says it plainly: two lines together for a while, then one sweeping onward and upward while the other simply stops.

The 22 points stretch the 4th XI's lead at the top of Division 8B to 205, eleven clear of Maidenhead Royals, with nine wins from ten now on the card. Boyne Hill were generous hosts on a scorching afternoon and will have better days - but this Binfield side, batting deep and bowling straight, is setting a ferocious pace at the front. First-rate stuff.
