The 3rd XI won the toss, bowled first and kept West Reading to 195, despite Ibraheem Ahmed's unbeaten 84. Bill Moffat's 4-42 and Bryn Davies' 3-31 did the heavy lifting, with Nathan Warwick adding 2-36.

The chase had one early shape, then another altogether. Matt Humphrey's 69 gave Binfield the innings' first big hand, but from 77-6 and then 134-9, the match needed a different sort of nerve.

Roxburgh-Smith supplied it. His 63 not out from 114 balls, alongside Ollie Brasier's unbeaten 8, turned a last-wicket stand into a match-winning passage. A one-wicket win in 45 overs is never tidy on the pulse, but it looks beautiful in the table.
