Match report The toss was won by Taplow who decided to field first and they had a good start removing Ian Rigby early on chacing a wide delvery and edging to the keeper. The innings then rolled on with steady but slow progress with most batsmen getting in but not going on to make big scores young Paul Spence 31 and not so young Neil Reeves 33 were top scorers for Binfield getting us to a total of 173 all out in 46 overs probably 30 runs short of the desired target but something to bowl at on a fairly low slow wicket. In reply Taplow tried to go of like a steam train but Ian Goddard and Martin Coster (5-44) used all there years of experience and took four early wickets between them. When it looked like the writing was on the wall for Taplow a good partnership between Andrew (59) and Heaton (28) got them back into the game. Andrew made the most of his chances as Binfield managed to drop him 3 times. The game seemed just to be drifting along with nothing much happening until the re-introduction of Martin Coster and Ian Goddard and when Martin Coster served up a juicy a long hop Andrew only managed to dispatch it straight down Mikey Allan-Canty's throat at deep mid-wicket. That was the breakthrough that Binfield needed. And with the Taplow batsmen deciding not to take any more chances against the cunning off spin of Ian Goddard, Cameron Spence was brought back into the attack and the youngster cleaned up the tail to finish with 3 wickets to his name.
