Match report We travelled to Purley for the rearranged pre-lim of the National Village Cup, on a hot sunny day Skipper Staves won the toss and decided to have a bat. Carson and Higginson opened up and put on 33 for the 1st wicket before Carson was spectacularly caught 1 handed at mid off! Morgan then came to the crease and started knocking the ball around well, Higginson departed LBW which allowed Lee to have his first bat of the season having sat padded up all day Saturday! These two preceded to hit the ball to all parts and a new 1st XI partnership record for the 3rd wicket of 218 was made. The innings closed on 301/4 with Moorgan scoring 129 and Lee 83. Vines (5-34) and Edgington (3-20) took the new ball and with wickets falling regularly the home side were never in the run chase, Bullett and Andrews took a wicket each to end Purley's innings on 63.
