Binfield Cricket Club's 4th XI won by 116 runs away at Kidmore End CC on Saturday 15 August 2026, an opening stand of 146 between Richerd Cooper (63) and Keegan Barretto (52) underpinning 283 for 9 in a Thames Valley Cricket League (TVCL) Division 8B fixture before Ollie Brasier and captain Abinandan Venkatraman took three wickets apiece to bowl Kidmore End's 3rd XI out for 167.

A wobble, a rebuild and then a wonderfully commanding finish - and, at the very start of it, the sort of opening partnership that makes the rest of the afternoon so much easier. Richerd Cooper and Keegan Barretto put on 146 together at Kidmore End on Saturday, more than half of Binfield's eventual 283 for 9, and the 4th XI won by 116 runs without ever really being troubled.

Cooper made 63 and Barretto 52, and they had taken the score past 140 before either was parted. What followed was rather more alarming: three wickets fell for 16 runs, Barretto himself, Mitesh Patel and Carter Daines all gone between 146 and 162, and a total that had looked like 300 suddenly looked like rather less. Jakob Hinton and Taran Kiri put a stop to that with 93 for the fifth wicket, the second-biggest stand of the innings, hauling Binfield from 162 for 4 to 255 before both were dismissed with the score unmoved.

Kidmore End's Charlie Fletcher will look back on the day with mixed feelings. His 6 for 45 from six overs - six of the nine Binfield wickets to fall, and the best bowling figures of the match by a distance - was a genuinely fine piece of work; his side's wider discipline was another matter entirely. Kidmore End's bowlers gave away 56 extras, 28 in wides and 18 in no-balls - runs the fielding side hands over, added to the batting side's total - which is nearly a fifth of Binfield's 283, arriving without a shot being played. Binfield's own attack gave back 27. That gap alone is roughly half the winning margin.

Two hundred and eighty-three was always a great deal too many, and Kidmore End set about it in a series of short-lived instalments. Binfield's Chris Bullett and Nathan Warwick took two wickets each with the new ball and the hosts were 49 for 4; Arun Kumar Pera made a spirited 40 and Nischal Tiwari 38, but the only partnership of any real length was worth 38 and the innings never sustained a proper chase. Ollie Brasier was the pick of it with 3 for 25 from eight overs, one of them a maiden, at just over three runs an over, and Venkatraman - having already led the side and batted at seven - returned 3 for 37 to see the innings closed at 167 in the 35th over. Splendidly done all round.
