Binfield Cricket Club's Friendly XI won by 37 runs away at Littlewick Green CC on Sunday 12 July, half-centuries from Will Kings (50 retired not out) and Harry Jones (53 not out) lifting them to 213 for 4 before Archie Orr's 4 for 42 and Paul Morgan's 3 for 21 bowled the hosts out for 176.

There are Sunday afternoons that simply invite a side to fill its boots, and Binfield's Friendly XI accepted the invitation with relish. Having won the toss and batted, they were treated to a well-made 50 from wicketkeeper Will Kings, who retired to let others have a go, and an unbeaten 53 from Harry Jones at the other end of the innings. Bryn Davies weighed in with 33, Peter Henly 24 and Zubair Ahmed 23, and 213 for 4 was a most comfortable platform.

Pranshu Patel worked hard for his 2 for 62 in the Littlewick Green attack and deserves a courteous mention for it, as does a middle-order batter listed only as Jack, whose 47 was the innings of the home side's reply. But this was a day when the visitors' bowlers were not minded to be generous for long.

Archie Orr was the chief destroyer, wheeling away for 4 for 42 and bowling three of his victims outright, while Paul Morgan's 3 for 21 was every bit as telling - a batter bowled, another caught and a third trapped leg-before. Will Guest, Paul Edgington and Adrian Millerick took a wicket each to share the honours, and Littlewick Green, for all their 29 extras, were bowled out for 176 in 30.2 overs. Samuel Scozzari's 27 and Ayaan Ahmad's 26 had promised more than the scorecard finally delivered.

Two half-centuries and a four-wicket haul make for a thoroughly satisfying line in the scorebook. Jones now carries a 2026 season of 418 runs at 69.67, an unbeaten hundred among them, and there is a lovely unhurried certainty to the way he goes about his batting. A 37-run win, cheerfully earned, and the long road home from Littlewick Green made all the shorter for it.
