Binfield Cricket Club's Friendly XI eased to a 60-run win away at Eversley CC on Sunday 5 July, Jaden Slaughter's excellent 100 retired not out the platform for 220 for 5, before Peter Henly's 3 for 17 completed a comfortable afternoon.

Sunday at Eversley came sunlit, dry and gently breezy, and Jaden Slaughter responded with the roundest number in cricket: 100, retired not out. Binfield had won the toss and chosen to bat, and Slaughter's century sat at the centre of 220 for 5, a total with just the right sort of Sunday abundance about it.

There was good company around the hundred. Zubair Ahmed made 28 before Graeme (Spider) Ellis had him caught, wicketkeeper Ollie Cummings added 18 before falling to the same bowler, Joshua Snelling made 20 before Archie Blackman bowled him, and captain Dan Humphrey remained 30 not out. Ethan Moxham was Eversley's best bowler with 2 for 15 and a maiden, removing Archie Mitchell and Paul Morgan for nought.

Layla Judge's six overs contained three maidens and cost only 14, a wicketless spell of lovely economy. Will Guest took both Heywoods for 2 for 36, Archie Mitchell claimed 2 for 23, Paul Morgan took 1 for 31 and Peter Henly led the wicket column with 3 for 17. Eversley closed on 160 for 9 from 37.4 overs, leaving Binfield the winners by 60 runs; Judge's three maidens had supplied all the control the scorecard required.

Humphrey added the run-out of Keagan Queen to his unbeaten 30, while Cummings matched his 18 with catches of Joe Van Der Merwe and Ollie Heywood. Eversley captain Julian Cummings led his side's batting with 31 and Oscar Tarry made 29, both deserving a proper hand for keeping the reply alive. A century in the book and a 60-run victory secured: that is a Sunday scorecard worth folding carefully into the scrapbook.
