Boyne Hill's Atir Khan got within one run of a century, making 99 before the innings finally closed on 211. Binfield had to work for it, and Harry Jones' late burst of 3-12 gave the chase a shape it might otherwise have lost.
The reply became a proper club-cricket thriller. Tony Smith's 36 gave Binfield something solid, Jones top-scored with 59, and then Samar Mughal and Chris Bullett took the match by the scruff when it mattered.
Samar finished 33 not out and Bullett 18 not out, turning a nervy 177-7 into 212-7 with no further damage. The scorecard also gives Jones a lovely double entry: three wickets at the tail, then the top score in the chase. That is a Saturday well spent.
