BULLETT FIRES BINFIELD OVER THE LINE!

16 May 2024

Binfield CC made it two wins out of two in the Bracknell Midweek league Division 1 after a final ball win against Finchampstead CC.

Finch batted first, reaching 19-2 after the five over powerplay as opening bowlers Grant Celliers and Chris Bullett picked up a wicket each for Binfield.

A partnership of 63 between Ben Salter and captain Wes Roberts then followed for Finch, as they began to increase their run rate.

However, both were dismissed within an over of each other, as Ben Clark and Archie Gowthorp got themselves onto the wickets column.

A late flurry of runs from Rui Wright helped Finch get to 119 after their 20 overs, with a strong late bowling spell from Binfield’s Sam Kennett.

In their response, Binfield lost a wicket early as opener Dan Humphrey edged behind off Sam Fearon, forcing Tommie Predgen into a smart catch.

A partnership between Wynand Lamprecht and Sam Kennett then followed for the home side, reaching 51-1 after nine overs.

Soon after both were dismissed in a similar fashion, as Finch got themselves back into the tie.

Contributions from Chris Morgan, Shaun Miller and Grant Celliers ensured Binfield needed seven runs off the final over, despite a good spell of bowling from Lewis Sharp.

Kyle Storkey picked up two wickets and went for two runs in the first four balls of the final over, meaning Binfield needed five off the last two deliveries.

In came Chris Bullett, who hit two fours off the final two balls to ensure victory!

Binfield move top of the Bracknell Midweek League.

They travel to Bracknell next week in the cup, whilst Finchampstead face Wokingham.
