On Sunday Bracknell Cricket Club hosted the annual Keith Strong Memorial Cup versus Binfield Cricket Club. Binfield won it in the end but only just, by 3 runs! Binfield posted a good score of 225 in 39.5 overs, all out. Sean Ennis getting 54 and Tim Vines just missing his fifty with a 47. Peter Henly from Bracknell CC bowling wonderfully for figures of 6-17.
Bracknell's innings was highlighted by a very handy knock from Mahendra for 71 runs and Noushad for 47. It was Binfield's skipper, Ian Goddard that got the much needed wickets though. Bowling the filthiest stuff you ever did see, he got 5 wickets for just 25 runs.
Riveting stuff it came down to the last ball of the innings where John Bray needed 4 runs to tie the match, or Ian Goddard to bowl 5 wides (not entirely impossible on the day) for Bracknell to win. Fortunately for Binfield, John must've felt sorry for Ian, because he did not punish the horrible length ball, pitching well wide of offstump, and instead hit it over cover to land dead in the outfield for 1 run.
