Match report An excellent all-round team performance gave Binfield 1st XI a comfortable 50-run victory over Taplow in the first league game of the season.

Batting first after winning the toss, Binfield started positively but soon lost 3 quick wickets, including two from Raj, to leave them at 30-3. Sean Ennis (22) and James Wright (34) then set about rebuilding the innings and steady progress was made against some tight bowling during the middle overs. Paul Edgington (28) continued when Wright was dismissed and Binfield had a solid platform from which to accelerate during the last 10 overs. Matt Humphrey provided just what was needed with a quick 30 and some good running from the lower order batsmen left Binfield with a challenging total of 180-8 on a wicket that was not easy to score on. Raj was the pick of the Taplow bowlers with 4-49 after two more wickets in his second spell.

In reply, the Taplow batsmen struggled early on against the spin of Tony Boad (3-30) and Michael Carson (3-50), with opener Nilam the only batsman to provide any resistance. When the pace bowlers were introduced, the same pattern continued with Barney Sykes taking 3-18, including the wicket of Nilam for 64, which ended any slim hopes that Taplow had left. This left Jason Lynch to take the final wicket with the new ball and round off a superb Binfield display.
