Match report Binfield captain Sean Ennis won the toss and elected to field first in damp conditions at Penn & Tylers Green. Penn recovered from the early loss of Nick Barber to made steady progress through a second wicket partnership between Paul Francis and Raunak Biswas. Francis hit some lusty
blows in his innings of 51 which proved the mainstay of the home team’s innings. Binfield’s bowlers bowled accurately throughout with Matt Hayman taking 3 wickets for 12 from 12 overs, Barney Sykes 4 wickets for 42 from 14 overs and Adam Carson 2 wickets for 15 from 9 overs. Jack Collett claimed the final Penn wicket as they slumped to 106 all out. The bowlers were helped by a dynamic fielding performance led by wicket-keeper Greg Simmonds who took one
catch and further good catches from Sean Ennis (two), Adam Carson and Barney Sykes helped bring an early conclusion to the home side’s innings.
An inspired decision by Sean Ennis to open the innings with Mikey Allan-Canty gave the Binfield reply impetus and despite the loss of two early wi
ckets, Binfield were never really troubled in reaching the 107 required to claim victory. The Binfield innings was helped by Penn’s bowlers conceding extras that kept the scoreboard ticking over and reduced the pressure on the batsmen. A half century partnership for the third wicket be

saw Binfield home. Allan-Canty top-scored with 37, while Marshall scored 20 and Ennis with 15 not out but the added bonus of 22 extras made the target significantly easier.
