Match report After a 100 overs of cricket a winning draw for the home side was the final outcome.

Binfield won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first, a quick-fire opening stand of 49 between Lunnon (38) and Jeffrey (27) was ended when the latter mis-timed a hook shot to square leg. This brought Reid (47) to the crease who proceeded to punish anything short but was undone by one that nipped back down the hill and clipped his off bail from Graham. The home side then proceeded to fall from 118 – 2 to 159 – 6 as the introduction of Ridgeway’s slow left arm took its toll. This brought the U15 pair of Nower (39) and Nicholls (30) together who with the combination of good running and powerful hitting put 63 on for the 7th wicket in just 9 overs. A few lusty blows from the lower order allowed Binfield to declare on 244-9 after 50 Overs.

A great tea was then taken (7.75/10 a top effort Jason!)

With Hurley needing just under 5 runs per over, the decision was taken to start with the old ball and the spin of Khanna and the slow bowling of Goddard! The move payed dividends as Godddard (11-5-20-5) picked up the early wickets which were craved. The excellent 14 year old Khanna (14-3-26-0) gave great support with his accurate yet big turning legspin but for some luck would of picked up a the wickets he deserved. It became apparent that having lost their top order early the Hurley plan was to stick in and frustrate and make the home side work for every wicket, so the new ball was taken. With many short spells and much chopping and changing of bowlers, wickets were picked up. Nicholls (6-0-20-2) and Wright (300th for the club!) (3-1-9-1) were the other wicket takers. With 10 overs remaining and 4 wickets required the ball was thrown back to Goddard who returned to complete his 30th Fifer for the club! The long vigil of Simoes was ended by the young Nicholls and left Binfield needing 2 wickets in 4 overs, however experienced pair of Richardson and Morgans had other ideas and saw their side through to the close and to deny the home side full points.

16 Points collected and onto next week when we make our first ever trip to Knotty Green!
