Match report This close encounter saw the 3rd XI take the win in the 42nd over of their inning, chasing 118 posted earlier by Mortimer CC.

Clearly a bowlers wicket, Skipper John Humphrey elected to bowl having won the toss. Chris Jones (4 wickets for 30 runs from 10 overs) and Mahesh Acharya (2 wickets for 16 runs from 10 overs) opened the bowling.
Stephen Andrews (2 wickets for 30 runs from 10 overs) and Will Guest (1 wicket for 27 runs from 10 overs) continued to pile on the pressure taking several wickets in the process.

Amelia Humphrey (1 wicket for 7 runs from 4 overs) made a good come back to this season with a very tidy four over spell, whilst Dom Mathias filled in for one over just missing out on a maiden.

During the first innings Nathan Warwick unfortunately sustain a minor injury to the head whilst fielding and was taken out the game to receive treatment.

Chasing 118 on a bowler friendly wicket, the opening batsmen from the 3rd XI played sensible cricket. Ram Devarakonda (30 runs not out) had an eventful start to his innings coming off with a leg injury and 17 runs to his name. He later returned to the crease at the end of the innings, scoring a quick 13 runs to help the side win the game.
Richard Higginson (35 runs) was unfortunately runout.
Stephen Nower (8 runs) was caught at fine leg, "It was a shorter ball that got a bit big on me!! - Stephen Nower"
Dom Mathias (2 runs) was caught in the covers.
John Humphrey (6 runs) bowled by some cunning in-swing bowling.
Stephen Andrews (18 runs) accelerated the run rate but succumbed to a plumb LBW.
Chris Jones (8*) blocked everything until the very end and with the help of Devarakonda, got the side over the finish line.
Mahesh Acharya (3) was bowled by some good bowling.
Amelia Humphrey (0) bowled by the same good bowling.
Will Guest (2) was runout by himself :-)
